covered in the First Aid at Work training course?
The First Aid at Work training course covers the following topic
areas:
- Acting safely and promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Preventing Cross infection,
recording incidents and actions and use of available equipment
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Care
of an unconscious casualty (including seizure)
- Choking
- Wounds and Bleeding
- Shock
- Minor injuries
- Musculo-skeletal injuries including fractures, sprains and strains
- Spinal
injuries
- Chest injuries
- Severe burns and scalds
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
anaphylaxis
- Heart attack
- Stroke
- Asthma

How is the First Aid at Work training course assessed?
There is a short assessment at the end of
this first aid course. Following successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate, which will be valid
for three years.
NOTE
Please note,that under the new guidelines
from September 2011 the HSE also strongly recommend taking an annual half-day skills update course each year, between your full certificate renewals.
